Athlete's Foot
Athlete's foot is annoying and
uncomfortable and normally appears between the fourth and fifth toes of feet.
However, Athletes foot can appear anywhere on the foot, and is highly
contagious.
Tinea pedis, commonly called Athlete's foot, is a contagious fungus that
thrives in moist environments like wet, sweaty shoes and socks.
What causes Athlete's Foot?
The most common cause of athletes foot is perspiration and not only
athletes are privy to this condition. Athletes foot fungus, thrives in
warm, dark, moist climates and is encouraged by foot perspriation in socks and
shoes.
What are the symptoms of Athletes Foot?
Itchy feet that feel like they are on fire should be suspect to this condition.
Athletes foot can result in red, burning, scaly, itchy feet, and usually
appears as a scaling rash, making your feet feel like theyre "on
fire."
Some strains can cause small blisters or fluid-filled vesicles to appear on
inflicted areas.
Prevention and treatment for symptoms relief
Keep your feet dry - that is the biggest preventative to Athlete's Foot.
Careful hygiene and the regular use of anti-fungal creams and powders should
alleviate symptoms if you are unfortunate enough to contract this condition.
Guard against athletes foot:
- Wash feet with an anti-bacterial soap
- Dry feet well after showering or bathing
- Use anti-fungal powders and creams to absorb excess moisture from your feet
- Change your socks often, especially after exercising - Wear rubber sandals
when using public showers or pools, or when you go to the gym
A recurring rash may be indicitive of another affliction - always check with
